The need for additional source of revenue to augment grants provided by the government to the tertiary institutions in Nigeria, gave rise to the emergence of Consultancy Services established to provide a range of profitable services ranging from educational to entrepreneurial. From the emergence of this development in the early 1990’s, the idea has proven to be successful for most institutions becoming one of their major sources of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
Furthermore, the Consultancy Services provided avenues for training, employment, community development and additional educational service, positively impacting on the lives of many within and around the academic environment.
Having considered the numerous advantages of establishing the afore-mentioned venture based on impact assessment, viability, sustainability and profitability; the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi Consultancy Services Limited (PCS) was set up by the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi in 1999 as a start-up venture. Within the said year, it commenced by managing the evening academic Programmes (STREAM B Programmes) within the Polytechnic campus. It also organized and conducted tailor-made workshops for interested Governmental and Non Governmental Organizations within Bauchi State. To make its revenue stream more robust, PCS also got involved in business activities and professional consultancy services thereby making rich use of its available human resources.
To gain a stand as an autonomous legal entity based on its high growth rate and the Return on Investment, the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi Consultancy Services Limited was duly registered at the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) on 24th June 1998 with Registration Number (RC 336789) as a Limited Liability Company.
